1/2 Pig Deposit December Harvest
*These hogs will go to harvest on 12/11 and be available for pick up from 12/15 until 12/20, please note that our October harvest & November harvest is completely sold out, if you’d like to order a whole hog instead of a half please add (2) half deposits to your cart.*
Pricing for our Duroc/Yorkshire pork is $5.25/lb hanging weight and includes all processing costs and vacuum sealed packaging. This will save you approximately 30% versus what you’d pay buying the same amount of pork in our smaller retail bundles. The expected hanging weight for a half pig is approximately 110lb and the expected take home yield (pork you can take home and consume) on a half pig is typically between 60%-65% of the hanging weight. So in this scenario a half pig total cost would be $577.50 (note that your deposit counts against this total).
As with beef this hanging weight could end up being slightly higher generating more pork and costing a little bit more or it might be a slightly lower hanging weight, costing you a little bit less and generating a little bit less pork. This price is all-inclusive and covers the cost of raising and feeding the hog, transporting it to the processor on your behalf, all of the processing costs, vacuum sealing and fresh freezing. The hanging weight can swing approximately 10-12% in either direction depending on the frame size of the hog.
What Cuts Do I Get?
When it comes to how your pork is cut we are here to help! Your options will include juicy pork chops (bone-in or boneless), spare ribs, mild sausage, hot sausage, Italian sausage, Boston Butt and Picnic Roast (great on the smoker for pulled pork), hams (can be left as whole ham, cut into roasts, sliced into ham steaks or ground into sausage), the prized pork tenderloin, pork belly, bacon, fat back, ham hocks, jowls and liver.
Where do I pick it up?
Your pork can be picked up from the small family owned USDA inspected processing facility we send our hogs to in Ellijay, GA or we can send a freezer van to pick it up in Ellijay and bring it back to the walk in freezers here at our farm here in Clarkesville, GA (Habersham County) for a fee of $50. Please note that 1/2 or whole pigs CANNOT BE SHIPPED, IF YOU CHOSE SHIPPING AT CHECKOUT IT WILL BE REFUNDED.
